Swing the Bat is an FLCL-inspired ttrpg. It's Powered by the Apocalypse with a twist. The game master is known as the Gatekeeper, and their goal is to cause trouble. At the beginning of each session they choose a Main Character and give them an extra d6 to roll for their Moves. From there, the rest of the players try to gain control of the scene by using their Moves on one another so that they become the Main Character.

If you're the Main Character, you have the chance to open the portal in your head and release the Pirate King!

Pick up the game for free or pay what you want. All earnings will go to an indie creator for an upcoming TTRPG First Look on the NERVES podcast.

That epilogue evicerates childhood. It’s v effective. The game ends.

While reading this, i imagined playing with hands of spindlewheel cards for selecting what supporting role you have in any scene. If you fail a roll, the person to your left adds your card to their hand. Anyone can give a card to the Gatekeeper to reroll any one dice.

Neat game. Gets me thinking. Thanks for making it live. You don’t have it linked! Here it is:

I’m glad i could see someone else in their process. Felt like study hall or a brainstorm session or something.
